An NGL alternative for asking people who don't know you
NGL brings you anonymous messages from your own followers. If you want answers from people who do not know you, it is a different job. We make Booking Minds, so here is the difference with sources, and when NGL or another app is the better choice. Checked in November 2026.
NGL and Booking Minds side by side
| NGL | Booking Minds | |
|---|---|---|
| Who you hear from | Friends and followers, through a link you share on your Instagram story or elsewhere | Members of the app who choose to answer |
| Who asks | Your followers send messages to you | You ask the question |
| What others see | An anonymous message | A number, different on every question |
| Needs Instagram or Snapchat | Built around sharing your link there | No |
| Cost | Free, with in-app purchases | Free, no subscriptions |
| Age on the App Store | 18+ | 18+ |
When NGL is the better choice
If you want to hear what your friends really think of you, or play story games with your followers, stay with NGL. Booking Minds does not do that, and your friends will not be there unless they join.
When Booking Minds fits
- You have a question you would rather not ask people who know you.
- You want to hear from someone who has been through it: what an AI cannot tell you.
- You want the most helpful answers first, because members tap Helped me on what helps.
Ask is new, so an answer can take a while, and we cannot promise one. Booking Minds knows the account behind every number, so that the rules hold for everyone. How asking anonymously works.
Other NGL alternatives
- Tellonym: anonymous questions from people you share your link with, closer to how NGL works.
- Sendit: anonymous questions on Snapchat.
- askbox: an ask-me-anything box on the web.

Questions about NGL alternatives
What is a good NGL alternative?
It depends on who you want to hear from. For messages from friends, Tellonym works in a similar way. For answers from people who do not know you, Booking Minds is built for that.
Is there an NGL alternative without Instagram?
Yes. Ask on Booking Minds does not use Instagram or Snapchat. You ask inside the app, and other members answer.
Is Booking Minds free?
Yes, with no subscriptions, for people aged 18 or older.
